2021 City Day at the Capitol
City voices were front and center on January 28 at the Capitol as more than 200 city officials, representing 83 cities across the state, gathered virtually for “City Day at the Capitol”—local government’s biggest event of the legislative session. As part of the event, mayors, council members and city managers learned about the LOC’s 2021 legislative priorities—mental health service delivery, COVID-19 economic recovery, comprehensive infrastructure investment, property tax reform, housing and services investment, water utility and rate assistance, and disaster relief and recovery.
Attending city officials also heard from state leaders, including Governor Kate Brown, Senate President Peter Courtney, Assistant Senate Republican Leader Lynn Findley, Speaker of the House Tina Kotek and House Republican Leader Christine Drazan. The day concluded with a virtual legislative reception, where city officials and legislators from the same region had a chance to informally engage in conversation.
The League would like to thank its members who took time out of their busy days and helped make “City Day at the Capitol” a success.
