Local Government Spring Conference

Spring Conference Canceled Due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic

March 17, 2020

Due to the increasing health concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the LOC has made the unfortunate decision to cancel the 2020 Local Government Spring Conference, scheduled for April 24 in Hermiston.

We arrived at this difficult decision after hearing yesterday’s announcement from Governor Brown, which banned gatherings statewide of 25 or more people, and after lengthy discussions with the LOC management team and officials from our host cities, Hermiston and Pendleton.  Deciding to cancel the Spring Conference was a difficult but necessary step to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of everyone attending or participating in the event.

We understand that many of you may be concerned about your financial commitment to the Spring Conference. To this end, the LOC will work to provide a full refund to registered attendees in the next 90 days.  Refunds will be provided according to the manner in which payments were received, either by check or credit card.

The Oxford Suites in Hermiston has advised the LOC it will cancel rooms booked within our room block, and that guests will not need to contact the hotel themselves.  Oxford Suites will send you a cancellation notice.  If you do not receive a cancellation notice from Oxford Suites within the next 10-14 business days, please contact the hotel directly to confirm that it has in fact cancelled your reservation.  If you booked your hotel room outside of LOC’s room block, you will need to call the hotel directly to cancel your room.

If you have further questions about the conference, please feel free to email Lisa Trevino, our conference manager:  ltrevino@orcities.org
