This one-day workshop will focus on the inner workings of a competitive grant proposal. This course is suitable for beginners or experienced grant writers looking to refresh their skills.

Workshop outcomes include:

  • Understanding how to format budgets for single or multi-year projects, including matching requirements;
  • Learning to use the budget, goals, and activities to form the outline of the narrative;
  • Developing strategies for crafting a compelling narrative that includes quantitative data and story-telling; and,
  • Understanding the basic mechanics of submitting online and paper grant applications.

The day begins with an overview of the most common grant forms and sections; offering tips and tricks to make your proposal shine. The day finishes with a breakout session that offers individual coaching on specific grant applications. Participants are encouraged to bring a grant application they are currently working on or interested in pursuing, although blank federal and private foundation application forms will be available.
