Heroes Act – NLC Needs Your Stories
For the last few weeks, the National League of Cities (NLC) has been rolling out various elements of its Cities Are Essential campaign. The NLC’s effort, in combination with the Heroes Act (HR 6800), is steadily building support and momentum. A recent study showing a $360 billion revenue shortfall highlights the urgency for direct funding to cities. Without it, cities across the U.S. will be forced to reduce services for their respective communities.
This week, the NLC is asking city leaders to provide stories related to their collective struggles with lost revenue during this pandemic. The stories will help the NLC with messaging as it builds more bipartisan support for funding across the country. City leaders who have stories to submit can use this portal. In addition, city leaders are asked to make sure they are reaching out to their congressionally elected senators and representatives. The NLC and the LOC need to make sure all of Oregon’s delegation are behind direct payments to cities and counties and are supporting the Heroes Act.
