Executive Director, Oregon Travel Information Council
The Executive Director (ED) of the Oregon Travel Information Council is someone who can run a Semi-Independent state agency that operates with an entrepreneurial style. They will be versed in the Oregon legislative process and able to work on behalf of the Board to manage the agency to meet the stated goals and objectives, while operating within the confines of the laws that govern the agency. The position is the chief executive officer overseeing the efforts of over 70 staff members throughout the state. The ED works with management to evaluate programs and services and apportion agency resources to meet changing agency needs. The ED has the proven ability to hire, terminate, train and develop staff members. Work involves reviewing performance and administering corrective action of assigned leadership team members as necessary. The ED and leadership team continually monitor and assess the agencies progress towards meeting agencies goals and objectives. The agency has a mix of funding resources, including fee revenue and pass through funding from ODOT. The ED must have the ability to work with a variety of personalities and communication styes to get work accomplished. This position does not lend itself to hybrid or full-time remote work however occasional remote work may be possible. Requires travel to all parts of the state.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in management, public administration or related field AND 10 years’ experience in a public or private organization, including supervision of others.
OR
• Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Special Requirements/Licenses: A valid Oregon driver’s license and proof of an acceptable driving record are required.

• Knowledge and understanding of running an agency small business, including Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and field staff.
• Knowledge of administrative and management requirements unique to state agency operations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and engage others including the Legislature.
• Knowledge and understanding of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Effective and meaningful public engagement practices including strong public relations skills: excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills: including financial acumen.
