This position supports the fiscal team in carrying out the fiscal functions of the agency including but not limited to: responsible for specific accounting functions; examining, analyzing and reconciling financial data; coordinating, monitoring, and reporting financial information to management; and recommending improvements in policies and procedures to management in a collaborative work environment. A day in the life. As the new Accountant 1 you will:
• Process and record invoices and accounts payables, receipts and receivables, purchase requests, mail, physical deliveries, and deposits in compliance with all
State and Federal Laws, policies, regulations, and agreements.
• Record, track, inventory and report capital and accountable assets, as well as calculate, track and report annual depreciation and ending book values in
compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Coordinate the purchase card program, provide trainings and issue/rescind access, as well as review expenditure summaries for policy inconsistencies and
errors.
• Perform reconciliations and research variances and issues, initiate corrections and prepare adjusting entries to agency accounting records. Conduct Lost Check
Affidavit process to clear vendor and central payroll warrant issues.
• Develop and process routine and ad-hoc queries to support departmental reporting needs. Maintain and update internal databases, spreadsheets, logs, and
data files in keeping with State and Federal requirements.
• Develop and present travel trainings for departmental staff as well as review and process travel reimbursement requests for payment. Monitor, track, and
maintain permanently assigned vehicles to ensure that they are serviceable, locatable, and available for use.

What We Are Looking For
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; OR
A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline that includes or is supplemented by 32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in accounting from an accredited institution; OR
32 quarter (21 semester) credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution AND two years of technical, para- professional accounting experience to include: a) classifying, analyzing, and reconciling financial data and records; b) designing, recommending, and installing modifications of accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records; c) preparing financial statements and reports; d) analyzing and interpreting laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances to ensure the legality of financial transactions; and e) analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations related to accounting transactions, accounts and account relationships resulting in accounting entries.
We’re Also Looking for:
• A Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate
• Governmental (state, city, county) accounting experience.
• Knowledge of SFMS & other state accounting systems
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements
• Knowledge of Financial IT system upgrades (Workday, Oregon Buy or other accounting systems).

• The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is a PERS participating member, they will have the base salary increased by
6.95% and pay the 6% employee contribution to PERS. Successful candidates who are not yet a PERS participating member, will receive the 6.95% pay increase
and begin the 6% employee contribution upon participating in PERS. DLCD employees are eligible for step increases on an annual basis, up to the top of the
classification salary range.
