Local Legislation Overview

Under their home rule authority, cities may enact local legislation that are appropriate for their individual communities. Legislation is enacted through the City Council acting as a body to pass ordinances.  Councils may also announce policy directions and direct city staff to act via the use of proclamations and resolutions.
