COVID-19 Federal Relief Package Update
The National League of Cities (NLC) and the LOC are continuing our efforts to advocate on behalf of cities in Congress. Last weekend, bill drafters continued their “mark-up” process, which includes a $350 billion allocation of federal relief for cities, counties and states. More details on the funding levels can be found in last week’s LOC Bulletin.
Throughout this process, the NLC has maintained pressure on Congress to keep the $350 billion allocation for state and local governments despite pressure for a smaller level, or potentially no state and federal relief at all. As part of its efforts, the NLC has updated its advocacy page with new talking points for city officials to use in their meetings with members of Congress. In addition, there is now a summary of the legislation available. Finally, the NLC has also made it easy to send a letter to your respective congressional representative or senator.
LOC members are urged to please take the time to reach out to Oregon’s delegation and make sure they stay strong and advocate on our state’s behalf for the stimulus package.
