Local Government People of Color Caucus Releases Two-Year Work Plan, Invites City Leaders to Participate
The Oregon Local Government People of Color (POC) Caucus Executive Committee is excited to reintroduce the caucus to LOC member cities and invite all self-identifying people of color council members to join. The current members of the Executive Committee are:
- President: Mayor Denyse C McGriff, Oregon City – dmcgriff@orcity.org
- Vice President: Riley Hoagland, Councilor, Lincoln City – rhoagland@lincolncity.org
- Secretary: Olivia Alcaire, Councilor, Hillsboro – olivia.alcaire@hillsboro-oregon.gov
- Treasurer: Jessica Andrade, Councilor, Philomath – Jessica.andrade@philomathoregon.gov
After recently encountering some unforeseen challenges, the POC Caucus Executive Committee has collaborated with LOC staff and caucus members to develop a two-year work plan that supports the purpose of the caucus. A summary of the work plan can be found here. Caucus leadership is excited about these latest developments and encourages city officials of color across Oregon to join the caucus during this dynamic time.
The caucus was established in 2020 to support city officials of color in their local government roles and to spotlight their leadership and contributions to the League of Oregon Cities through the formulation of the LOC’s policy agenda. The POC Caucus has achieved numerous successful outcomes over the years, including hosting conference sessions, co-hosting conference social mixers, and participating on the LOC Board and committees.
