OHA Issues New Administrative Rules Governing Aquatic Facilities
The Oregon Health Authority has recently adopted new administrative rules governing public aquatic facilities. The new rules found in OAR 333-060 and OAR 333-062 became effective in April and impact the design, operations, and maintenance standards of aquatic facilities which include swimming pools, splash pads, spas, and others. While most existing licensed aquatic facilities may continue to operate with minimal impact, operators are advised to review the new standards as they address closure protocols, signage requirements, staffing, and water treatment. The OHA has provided a summary document in English and Spanish that outlines significant changes. Additional information on the rules may be found on the OHA website.
