USDA Rural Development Grant Opportunity: Solid Waste and Rural Water Assistance

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has announced a grant opportunity for the rural water and waste management infrastructure improvements. The deadline to apply for both grant opportunities is December 31. Funding will be awarded in the fall of 2021 and must be used by September of 2022.

The USDA’s Solid Waste Management program provides grants for technical assistance and training that will help communities with a population of less than 10,000 improve the planning and management of solid waste systems in order to reduce pollution of water resources. Local governments, nonprofits, federally-recognized Tribes and academic institutions are all eligible to apply. View additional information on this opportunity

In addition, the USDA has announced a grant opportunity eligible to private nonprofits for the purpose of supporting technical assistance and training to help rural communities (with a population of 10,000 or less) to identify and evaluate solutions to water problems, improve the operation and maintenance of water or waste disposal facilities, or prepare applications for USDA Rural Development funding.
