Applications Open for CDBG Emergency Rental Assistance Grant Program

Business Oregon has announced a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for 2020 Community Development Block Grant CARES Act funding for an Emergency Rental Assistance Grant Program. This funding is open to non-entitlement cities and counties, and its focus is to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Rental Assistance Grant Program will allow cities and counties to partner with experienced housing providers to provide up to six consecutive months of rental assistance to low- and moderate-income households impacted by COVID-19.

This grant program is using $2,323,265 in federal funding from the first allocation of Community Development Block Grant program CARES Act (CDBG-CV1). The remaining CDBG-CV1 allocation will be covered in an upcoming  NOFA for different projects .

Cities are eligible for grants up to $400,000 and must serve a minimum of two non-entitlement communities. Cities can apply for an additional $50,000 if collaborating with additional non-entitlement cities for a maximum of $500,000. Recipients must sub-grant funds to an organization that has experience administering rent assistance programs.
