Deadline Extended for FEMA Public Assistance Requests

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the deadline to apply for Public Assistance (PA) grants until November 13. Normally, a request for a PA grant must be completed within 30 days of a disaster declaration, which was September 15. However, due to the volume of applications, the deadline has been extended.  PA grants provide a 75% federal match for disaster response and recovery projects under a specified schedule. Please note that not all counties are currently eligible for all scheduled assistance categories. Please see below for the schedule and eligible counties:

Category A – Debris Removal:

Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion and Tillamook County

Category B – Emergency Protective Measures:

Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Coos, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Tillamook, Wasco, Washington and Yamhill Counties

Category C-G – Permanent Work (Repair & Replacement):

Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion and Tillamook County.

Cities wishing to apply for public assistance must first register at the FEMA grant portal and complete a profile. Applicants will be required to complete the FEMA online training program, which is free of charge. A complete policy guide may be found on the FEMA website.
