Funding Opportunity for EV Charging Projects at Multifamily Homes, Workplaces and Public Areas opens today
The latest rebate opportunity from the Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT) Community Charging Rebates program, which offers rebates for EV charging station projects at multifamily homes, workplaces and publicly accessible parking areas, is now open.
The big news for this opportunity is the expansion of eligible project types to include public DC fast charging stations. ODOT will also offer the usual rebates for Level 2 charging station projects.
Round 5 does not have an application deadline. The rebate opportunity will remain open until all funds are exhausted. ODOT distributes rebates on a first come, first serve basis and will update the program webpage weekly with rebate fund amounts.
Nearly $5.5 million is available from a federal grant for this rebate opportunity. The rebates cover $8,000 per Level 2 charging port and $80,000 per DC fast charging port, or up to 80-95%* of eligible projects costs, whichever is lower.
Eligible businesses, nonprofits, public entities, Tribes, and owners of multifamily home complexes may apply. Start your application on the program webpage.
If a city needs help with an application or has questions about the program, please email: communitychargingrebates@odot.oregon.gov.
*The final rebate amount can vary based on project station type and location. See the program webpage for details.
Important program changes for this rebate opportunity
Limited Level 2 rebate funds. There will be a limited amount of rebate funds for Level 2 projects. Most of the $5.5 million will be reserved for DC fast charging station projects.
Applicant waitlist. ODOT has created a new waitlist for applicants who apply after we’ve reserved available rebate funds for this opportunity. If previously reserved rebate funds return to ODOT, for example from cancelled projects, the agency will award those returned funds to eligible applicants on the waitlist. Visit the program webpage for more details.
Reserved funds for some Oregon counties. ODOT has reserved some rebate funds for projects in 10 Oregon counties that have never received a rebate from the program: Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Morrow, Sherman, Union, Wallowa and Wheeler.
The goal is to incentivize projects in these counties and better distribute public EV charging access across the state. If the reserved county funds are not claimed by Jan. 31, 2027, ODOT will add any remaining funds to the statewide pool.
Updated equipment eligibility requirements. ODOT has updated the requirements for Level 2 charging equipment and networked charging stations. Read the details in the “Equipment Requirements” and “Network, Operations, Maintenance, and Data Reporting Requirements” sections of the Round 5 Community Charging Rebates Guidelines PDF.
More information about the rebates program
The Community Charging Rebates program is funded by state sources and a federal grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. This round is fully funded by the federal EPA grant.
This is the fifth rebate opportunity under the program. As of September 2026, the program has awarded $10 million in rebates to help fund 1,631 Level 2 EV charging ports statewide.
ODOT has built an interactive map that shows the locations for all funded and pending stations so far: View the interactive map online.
ODOT reserves 70% of funding for projects in rural and predominantly low-income communities.
