Funds for Affordable Housing and Shelter Providers Available Through June 14
While cities are not frequently the direct providers of affordable housing or shelter, they are frequently in close contact with organizations that do provide these services. Property and liability insurance costs have risen sharply in recent years, straining the budgets of affordable housing providers and shelter operators across Oregon. Oregon’s new Affordable Housing Premium Assistance Program, established under Senate Bill 829 (2025), provides financial assistance to help eligible organizations offset insurance costs and maintain coverage.
Who can apply? Organizations that own or operate eligible affordable housing or shelter facilities in Oregon and are paying property and/or liability insurance premiums on those properties. Reach out to your local partner organizations to ensure they know about the resources available.
How much assistance is available? Reimbursements are capped at the lessor of 40 percent of annual insurance premiums or $30,000 per organization. Priority will be given to organizations experiencing significant financial hardship due to insurance costs.
The application window is open now through June 14, 2026.
