Governor Issues Clean Energy Executive Order
On November 18, Governor Kotek issued Executive Order 25-29 (EO), pushing Oregon “Executive Branch Agencies” (Agencies) to prioritize strategies, activities, and investments to advance Oregon’s clean energy future. The EO is broad in its application, including support for initiatives such as energy saving building modifications and the use of low-carbon fuels, to energy facility siting that bolsters clean energy transmission capability, and grid resilience.
The four-part EO focuses on agency actions and is designed to perpetuate Oregon’s “Transition to a Clean Energy Economy.” To achieve that goal, the EO obligates agencies to rely on the following principals:
- Oregon Department of Energy’s “Oregon Energy Strategy”;
- Building Clean Energy Projects;
- Building a Resilient Clean Energy Economy; and
- Transparency.
