Two Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) Transportation Webinars Scheduled

With the passage of the IIJA in early November, more than $1.2 trillion in federal funds will be distributed to states over the next five years.  For Oregon, the allocation of IIJA funds will be more than $5.4 billion over five years. This includes $1.2 billion for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). There are also allocations for water and wastewater programs, along with broadband infrastructure, wildfire mitigation, bridge replacement/repairs, and airport improvement projects.

While other state agencies are working to determine how and where the funds will be funneled, ODOT has put together a work plan to move forward.  This plan relies on existing financing protocols, and will largely be moving funds through the existing transportation funding efforts available.

For stakeholders such as cities, two important webinars have been scheduled in the coming weeks.  The first will be December 7 from 9-10:30 a.m. and will provide a general overview of ODOT's plan. The LOC is recommending that city leaders and staff sign up for this webinar to learn more about how the funds will flow and learn how  to apply for grants or project support. View more information, including a link to join the webinar

The second webinar is December 15 from 9-10 a.m. and is sponsored by the LOC, the Association of Oregon Counties and ODOT. This webinar will be a deeper dive into the process, and city leaders and staff are strongly encouraged to participate. View more information, including a link to join the webinar

We expect to learn more details in 2022 about the water and wastewater component of the IIJA, along with the broadband investments. The LOC will also host additional webinars for members to learn more about how to identify funding for their critical community investments.
