Infrastructure Funding Investment – Forms Due November 21
Earlier this week, the LOC emailed an alert informing members about a unique infrastructure funding opportunity. Specifically, the LOC was tasked with gathering data from members who had shovel-ready infrastructure projects related to new housing projects.
The Legislature has specifically asked about any local projects related to water, sewer, stormwater, and transportation investments that will enable faster or more affordable housing development. Eligible infrastructure projects must clearly be tied to new housing development (including the number of estimated housing units supported by the infrastructure investment). All projects receiving state funding must be completed within two years of receiving grant funds.
The LOC does not advocate for individual city grants but is happy to build a directory of local investment opportunities for the upcoming 2024 legislative session and into 2025. The amount of funds available is unknown, and there is NO guarantee any city will receive funding, but the information LOC member cities provide will help the Legislature understand the scale of needs and opportunities around the state.
The LOC is fully aware of the tight timeline, but it’s the window the Legislature has requested. Cities – please make sure the LOC receives your qualifying projects by sending them to Legislative Director Jim McCauley at the email address listed below. This information must be received by the end of the day on Tuesday, November 21.
