Legislative Priority Voting Now Open
The voting process to determine the LOC’s 2027-28 legislative priorities began in June. Each city will have one vote and the deadline to submit ballots is 5 p.m. on September 25.
As of July 24, less than 4% of cities have submitted their ballots.
The current list of 27 legislative priorities was developed after months of meetings and wide-ranging discussions involving the seven LOC policy committees. These priorities are included in the 2026 Member Voting Guide. Issues range from infrastructure funding, public meeting reform, land use streamlining, and more are included in the guide.
While each city may have a different process for evaluating and prioritizing the issues, it’s important for cities to engage with their mayor and entire council to ensure their selected issues represent a shared set of priorities. In June, city managers/administrators received a link for voting. If your city did not receive a ballot link or needs help in submitting its vote, please reach out to the LOC’s Meghyn Fahndrich at mfahndrich@orcities.org.
Member votes will help determine which of the 27 priorities become the focus of the 2027-28 LOC legislative agenda. The LOC Board of Directors will formally adopt the agenda during their October meeting, guiding the work of the LOC Intergovernmental Relations Department for the next two years.
