LOC Seeks Member Input to Help Inform a DAS Technical Advisory Group
The LOC is asking its member cities to complete a survey developed by the Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS). The survey data will be used to inform the technical advisory group (TAC) convened to advise DAS on how Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) employers will determine average overtime amounts used in calculating final average salary.
Because the TAC is currently meeting, the deadline to complete this survey is Friday, September 11.
The LOC has a representative on the TAC and would like to provide as much data as we can to help represent the interests of cities. This TAC was formed because a previous rules advisory committee (RAC) was unable to develop a policy recommendation which could be implemented. The TAC is not tasked with developing the policy, only to develop a comprehensive authoritative report to inform future decision making.
The short survey asks for basic information about how a city groups, determines, and reevaluates average overtime for employees who are part of the Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan (OPSRP) within PERS.
As always, the LOC appreciates its member cities’ willingness to participate in surveys which help inform statewide policies and ensure that the impacts to, and preferences of, cities are considered.
