National Civic League Opens 2026 All-America City Award Applications
The National Civic League invites your community to apply for the 77th annual All-America City Award, the nation’s most prestigious community recognition.
As the country marks 250 years since its founding, this year’s theme, “America at 250: Strengthening Civic Health and Building Trust,” calls on communities to reflect on and renew the promise of democracy. Across the nation, people are finding creative ways to engage residents in collective efforts that build trust, strengthen belonging, and shape thriving, responsive communities.
The 2026 award will highlight local initiatives such as participatory budgeting, citizens’ assemblies, storytelling and arts-based engagement, leadership programs for underrepresented groups, and new approaches to public meetings and community decision-making.
Important dates to remember: Optional letters of intent are due January 5, 2026, with final applications due February 26, 2026. Twenty finalists will be announced in the spring and invited to participate in the second stage of the competition, held June 26–28, 2026, in Denver, CO. There, communities will present their efforts to a jury of experts for a chance to earn the title of All-America City! Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your community on a national stage!

Since 1949, the All-America City Award has recognized the remarkable work happening in communities nationwide. By recognizing innovation, civic engagement, and cross-sector collaboration, it underscores the limitless potential within every community to overcome challenges and drive meaningful transformation.
