ODOT Works to Improve Access to Active and Public Transportation
Now more than ever there is an increased emphasis on having a safe and equitable multimodal transportation system. Having more options to get where you need to go just makes sense in today’s environment, especially now that equity and climate issues are at the forefront.
Recently the Oregon Transportation Commission allocated additional funds to:
- Address pedestrian and bicycle gaps on the state system.
- Prioritize projects at locations that provide an equity and safety benefit.
- Identify cost savings through leveraging with other ODOT projects.

In this presentation, ODOT Rail and Public Transportation Division Administrator Karyn Criswell and Public Transportation Strategic Investment Manager Susan Peithman discuss how ODOT will address public and active transportation improvements in the upcoming 2024-2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program and their commitment to projects and programs that improve equitable access to walking, biking and transit.
