OPRD Seeks Grant Feedback
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is seeking public comments on proposed updates to its Land and Water Conservation Fund grant program rules.
The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a federally funded grant program that helps local governments, federally recognized Tribes, and state agencies acquire and develop outdoor recreation areas across Oregon.
Under the proposed changes, the OPRD would move to a biennial funding schedule. At least one year of each biennium would include a competitive grant round open to eligible applicants, while the alternate year would dedicate available funding to eligible state park projects. The OPRD states that this approach will help maintain an efficient grant program while supporting critical state park improvements and long-term recreation planning.
Public comments will be accepted through July 9 at 5 p.m. through two mechanisms:
