Oregon Municipal Policy Discussion Draft Released
The LOC released the Oregon Municipal Policy (OMP) discussion draft for member feedback during last week's annual conference in Salem. After a year of regional meetings focused on the OMP and hours of policy committee conversations, this discussion draft reflects a modernized OMP reflective of members' needs while also providing a north star to LOC staff.
This draft adds core principles that will guide staff in their advocacy work, supporting non-partisan analysis and decision making. The discussion draft also contains structural changes, including: a table of contents; an introduction with a detailed explanation of the publication’s purpose and its use; similar formatting and level of detail throughout each section; and process instructions on how the LOC takes positions in alignment with the LOC Board of Directors, Legislative Committee, and policy committees.
The discussion draft is the topic of the 2027 President’s Regional Meetings and will be discussed during special policy committee meetings convened before the end of 2026. The LOC looks forward to hearing your feedback on the discussion draft at a regional meeting near you.
