Third Party Building Official Bill in Good Shape
The Senate Rules Committee held a hearing this week on SB 866, and the bill appears to be moving forward. There was no opposition to the bill at the hearing, and supporting interests included cities, organized labor, and the Oregon Building Codes Division. The LOC does not expect any issues with this bill moving forward, but that does not mean cities should end their advocacy efforts prematurely.
Cities - please take the time to reach out to your respective senators and representatives and let them know you support SB 866. Also make sure you communicate with the Senate Rules Committee members and let them know you support SB 866.
