As recent disease outbreaks have shown, it is important to be prepared for potential public health emergencies. However, it is not always known what kind of public health emergency a city will face. Fortunately, there is a wealth of resources available to create a plan for response to these emergencies. While most response to public health emergencies are done by the county health department, cities need a plan for working with the county and a plan for continuing service in the event of an emergency.
