2026 Legislative Session Begins Monday
This week the Oregon Legislature released 246 measures that will be under consideration during the 2026 session, which begins on Monday, February 2 and will last 35 days.
Legislators will take up big issues with budget shortfalls compounded by federal tax changes that could reduce state revenue. This includes a $242 million deficit for the Oregon Department of Transportation this biennium and additional reductions in other state agencies. In addition, legislators are focused on issues of immigration enforcement, affordability, and more.
Your LOC lobby team is analyzing bills now and will work to keep the best interests of cities top of mind for legislators. The LOC is engaging on a broad array of issues from water (hope you can join for water day!), transient lodging tax, land use, energy, public meetings, transportation, public safety, and more.
We hope to see you at our first virtual legislative update on Friday, February 6, at 12 noon, where we will share more about bills impacting cities.
