Grant Writing Workshop Series: Introductory & Advanced Skill‑Building

- Workshop One — Introduction to Grant Writing

This introductory workshop simplifies the grant writing process into clear steps and offers practical strategies for community‑based projects. Participants will learn how to find funding opportunities, build a realistic budget, and write a strong narrative, as well as understand ethical considerations around using AI in grant preparation. This advanced workshop builds on foundational skills and focuses on the more complex techniques needed to create a competitive grant proposal. Participants will learn to develop complex budgets, craft persuasive narratives, and complete detailed application forms, with interactive practice using their own projects or provided examples. At the end, attendees will feel more confident in preparing comprehensive, competitive grant applications using proven strategies.

Planning in Oregon: Building Successful Communities
This full‑day workshop provides local government officials, staff, and planning participants with a practical overview of Oregon’s land use planning system. Topics include planning roles and responsibilities, decision‑making processes, public hearings, and the legal and ethical foundations of effective planning. The course is led by John Morgan, Principal of the MorganCPS Group, who has over 50 years of experience in Oregon planning and city management.
