BEAD Challenge Process Webinar Set for April 11

Cities should register now to attend the Oregon Broadband Office’s (OBO) webinar on April 11 at 11 a.m. for a general overview of the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program challenge process. With up to $700 million in BEAD funding coming to Oregon, it’s vital that cities know how to challenge potential applications that may leave unserved households without internet service.

As many LOC members have realized, the original release of the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) broadband maps included many inaccuracies for served, unserved, or underserved broadband serviceable locations. The challenge process is an opportunity for cities to ensure their communities are not left behind.

The April 11 event will be the first of three  webinars this month, with the April 17 webinar designed specifically for local governments:

  • April 16, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.: ISP/Contractor Preregistration and detailed instructions on how to participate
  • April 17, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Local Government/EDD Preregistration and detailed instructions on how to participate
  • April 29, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Challenge Process Q&A

Links to register for each webinar can be found on the OBO’s website under Broadband Events.
