Legislature Announces Drought and Water Security Budget

This week, legislative leaders released the $110 million Drought and Water Security Package. The LOC supports this critical package and is requesting our members contact their legislators to express support for the package while making the specific request to fund water and wastewater utility assistance for $15 million.

In addition, increasing state investment in existing programs that provide access to lower-rate loans and grants will assist cities in investing in vital infrastructure. An LOC survey of cities in 2021 identified a need of $23 billion in infrastructure investment over the next 20 years.  This means that a significant reinvestment in the Special Public Works Fund (SPWF) is needed to help meet the needs of local governments.

Please contact your legislator and ask them to invest $125 million to fund the Special Public Works Fund.
