President Biden Announces COVID Plan

President Biden announced a six-part plan to address the ongoing and resurgent COVID-19 pandemic that includes a requirement that employers with 100 employees or more require vaccinations or regular testing. Employers would also be required to provide paid time off to employees to get the vaccine.  It is the understanding of the National League of Cities that the requirement will apply to public and private sector employers however rules have not been published and the LOC is seeking additional clarification.  The plan also includes greater access to testing, requirements for large entertainment venues to require proof of vaccine or a negative test, additional assistance to businesses negatively impacted by the pandemic and federal protection for school safety measures.  The LOC will continue to monitor this situation and advise cites as more information becomes available.
