Municipal Court and Judges Overview
Not every city has its own municipal court. However, there may be many benefits to having a local tribunal. Cities may also contract with neighboring cities to receive municipal court services. The most common type of cases of municipal courts include ordinance violations and traffic and misdemeanor offenses that occur within the city. Of a municipal court is established, the city council must appoint or contract for a municipal judge.
